This morning a stray dog followed a patron into the library and into our ESL class. I had to scoop him up and carry him outside, where we put out a chipped bowl from the staff kitchen as a water dish for him while we waited for Animal Services to come pick him up.
When I went out later to pick up the dish, someone had stolen it.
Someone stole the dish or the dog?
ReplyDeleteHah! I meant the dish, but the dog was also gone later in the day. I prefer to think of that as "took in" rather than "stole," though, if that is what happened.
DeleteWow, are you sure it was safe to pick up the dog? I'm not good with strange dogs, glad you're okay
ReplyDeleteI was not sure! But short of making everyone in our ESL class leave the room and confining the dog in there until Animal Control came, which would be really disruptive, it seemed like the best option. He was just a small, friendly puppy, but I didn't want to say that in the original post in case it made people too sad :( I'm sure he'll get adopted from the shelter!
DeleteI think the biggest danger to me was fleas.
We've had a couple dogs sneak into our library but the guards are okay with chasing them down.
